Most of you got a Gmail account even if it may not be your primary email address. It’s perfect because you can download your emails to for example Outlook Express and you can access it when you’re traveling. Now there a new improvement of Gmail which makes Outlook Express and other offline readers obsolete.
Gmail has started to use something Google calls Gears which makes it possible for you to access your email even if you’re offline because a copy of your emails are kept in a cache on your computer. As soon as you get online access again your emails are synchronized and emails in your outbox are delivered.

Since this is still an experimental function in Gmail Google want you to send them feedback.
If you’re using the English version of Gmail you should soon see a Labs tab in your Gmail account and then you can try it out by following these steps:
- Click Settings and click the Labs tab.
- Select Enable next to Offline Gmail.
- Click Save Changes.
- After your browser reloads, you’ll see a new “Offline0.1” link in the upper righthand corner of your account, next to your username. Click this link to start the offline set up process and download Gears if you don’t already have it.
