I have that problem.
The problem with the FB like button is that it requires a TON of http requests just for that one button. I’d rather have something simple like the twitter follower widget.
I rather have the FB like button then 1000 lines of code on my page like the twitter follower widget are using. Added the twitter follower widget will really slow down your site with all that code.
