About a month ago the satellite Geoeye 1 was sent into space and now after a month of hard work and fine tuning the first pictures can be viewed 😀
The first picture is of the university in Kutztown, Pennsylvania and the picture is amazing. Well, not the actual picture, but on pictures taken with this satellite you can see objects as small as 41 cm!!!! Since the pictures are taken from an altitude of 681 km above earth this is really amazing 😀
The pictures from this satellite will mainly be used for Google Maps. If you would like to read more about Geoeye 1 (or to view some pictures), then check out Geoeye.com.
Along with every thing which seems to be building inside this particular subject matter, all your points of view happen to be quite exciting. Even so, I am sorry, because I do not give credence to your whole suggestion, all be it refreshing none the less. It looks to us that your opinions are generally not completely justified and in actuality you are generally your self not totally certain of the argument. In any event I did take pleasure in looking at it.
Thank you for your whole effort on this blog. Betty enjoys carrying out investigation and it’s really simple to grasp why. My spouse and i hear all concerning the dynamic medium you deliver simple guidelines via this blog and encourage participation from other ones on the subject matter so our own daughter is really understanding a lot. Enjoy the rest of the year. Your conducting a powerful job.
I do enjoy the manner in which you have framed this particular matter plus it really does give me some fodder for consideration. However, because of everything that I have personally seen, I simply trust as the feed-back pile on that men and women stay on point and don’t start upon a soap box regarding the news of the day. Anyway, thank you for this superb piece and even though I can not go along with this in totality, I regard your viewpoint.
Just imagine how useful this technology will be for the police. many times it is hard to retrace the steps of criminals after they have made their get away.
very nice link!
I agree it’s a little bit scary and that may be why there’s a law (I think) in US that makes it illegal to publish satellite pictures where you can see objects smaller then 50 cm. This means that they have to zoom out a few cm before they can publish the pictures.
On the other hand, the tech geek inside me really love this kind of things 😀
Xavier Media HB (the mother company in the Xavier Media group) has actually been online since 3rd of December 1996. So next year we’re turning teenager 😀 (with all the problems that may cause 😉 ). An article comparing 2001 and 2008 is a really good idea and I will see what I can find in our backups and archives from that time.

Hi Xavier, I’ve got two comments on two of your posts. The first one is in regards to this Geoeye 1 which in my opinion is a little bit scary, and then when Google Earth ? (that doesn’t sound right) first came out I was shocked and mad! I remember a friend sent me an email with a picture of my house with my car in the driveway and the whole bit. It was like someone was spying on me, without me knowing about it. (well I guess that is the definition of spying)lol It’s just a little bit disconcerting and enough is enough. On the other hand there are so many good things that can be done with both of these Google Equipment (instruments) whatever , for the Arm Services ect. , it just feels like it’s too much information and can be used for bad and not always good. Great post, and great info that you have provided. And that is where my second comment speaking of giving good info. on your post…and your blog goes back to 2001 in Google search? Wow had no idea you have been in the biz that long… You should do a post on what it was like in 2001 and compare it to 2008 what has changed over the years and who else was around back then? Thanks for the post and I guess we should thank you for having such longevity
