As you may already know Entrecard got a couple of new rules just a few days ago and one of them is that you can’t do more then 14 Entrecard credit transfers to other blogs. So when I posted in the Entrecard forum asking for comments about the SezWho plugin I offered users 50 EC for the trouble of sharing their experiences about SezWho.
Since I could do 14 EC tranfers I limited the offer to the first 14 people. So far so good, but already the 4th person posting got me into problems.
I had done 2 transfers on the 10th so I should have at least 12 more transfers this week before I would be stopped. Then I gave three people 50 EC for posting comments, and when I tried to send 50 EC to the 4th person posting comments I got this message:
Why did I get this when I had only done 5 tranfers in the last 7 days. I should be able to do at least 9 more transfers 🙁
So when I tried to investigate by looking at my transactions for my different blogs, I got another extremely fun message:
I haven’t seen that message in a while. Last time I saw it it was on yellow background so they must have spent a few seconds upgrading the layout 😀
Can we trust Entrecard or are they trying to limit us from credit transfers (even more then the rules say)?
Is it just another bug in their system or a limit they’ve added without telling?
Since their site is currently down I can’t contact their support……….Is the Entrecard ship sinking or will the announced upgrades to the trick?
well, I agree that things are a bit messy with entrecard at the moment but it is still my biggest source of traffic and therefore, I guess, I will stick with them until there is some other thing that is viable enough to replace it…

I just checked and it looks like all transactions using OIO do NOT get taxed.
I sell my ads for 2K and i got 2K back.

Well I just tried to check my transfers but EC is down. I will check to see if I can see when someone paid for a ad using credits.
When it is back up ill have a look and then we will know if it has the tax. Maybe using the API bypasses the tax?

Since the transfer tax applies to purchases via OIO I thin also the transfer limit will apply:
What about a transfer tax?
OIO uses our payment API, and as such a transfer tax of 12.5% of the credits being paid applies automatically. Think of this similar to paypal’s fees. Even though you keep 100% of what you earn with OIO, paypal still charges you transfer fees, and so does Entrecard.

I see your point. I guess EC is just testing out some new ideas. If people keep moaning maybe things will change.
You could still sell things using OIO. They offer loads of ways to make Credits work as cash. Selling ad spots and text links is a good way to get past the transfer limit I guess. I am not sure if OIO sales count as transfers? Maybe a MOD will clear it up for us.

At the moment it looks like I will stay a member, but the Entrecard widget will move to the bottom of the page instead of the middle.
The biggest advantage with Entrecard for me has been to be able to actually use the credits in their shop, give away credits to people who help me with various stuff and to have contests. Since we can only do 5 transfers per week that limits my options to do stuff like that 🙁
If Entrecard want to keep the transfer tax they should at least remove the transfer limit they got. Who wants to buy something with credits if you can only do it five times per week, and who would like to sell something valuable for maximum 1,000 EC?

I don’t think its much reason to move away from EC. They offer a lot of other features you will not find anywhere else.
You have been with EC for around the same time as me and it would be a shame to see you go over something so small.
I know in the future EC has been saying they will have a contest deal so people running one can transfer credits. I don’t think its in place yet but fingers crossed it is soon 🙂
