WP-StatusNet with more features

We’ve just released a new version of the WP-StatusNet plugin for WordPress. We hope you will enjoy the new features 😉

The first and biggest change is that now you can post to Google Buzz, Ping.fm and some other services using WP-StatusNet via SocialOomph. SocialOomph is a service that lets you run Twitter accounts and other social media accounts on autopilot. When someone is following you for example you can have a direct message sent to the user thanking them for following you. You can even follow them back and have SocialOomph randomly select different direct messages.

Thanks to the use of SocialOomph you only need to administer all your accounts from one place. Whenever you have added a new account in SocialOomph you can sync the account information with WP-StatusNet. Then you just need to select the new account you would like to post to from a drop down-list.

Another change in this version is the removal of RT.nu as a link shortener service, and this is simply because RT.nu is no longer providing this service to the Internet community 🙁 . We don’t know why this happened and all information found on their web site is only:

Oops, Retweet.com hiccupped. Here’s why: This cloud node could not resolve the rt.nu database.

If you have selected RT.nu as link shortener RT.nu will be replaced by is.gd (the choise directly after RT.nu in the list of services). If you know any other link shortener service with an API that you would like us to add to the plugin, then please let us know. We’re always open to suggestions.

If you post to StatusNet servers and for some reason get an error message by the StatusNet server you will now see the error message in the list of servers. If you for example miss-spell the password the StatusNet server giving an error will be marked in red and you will see a drop down-list with the error message. To re-activate a service you just select re-activate in the drop down-list and save.
